I wanted to bring elements of the Art Deco era into this design, inspired by a piece of favourite jewellery owned by my client, but with a modern take. As with all designs, I needed to work within certain parameters, which in this case meant keeping the existing suite, furniture and if possible mirrors. I was to keep the budget to a minimum.
I painted the coffee table, TV unit and DVD unit, along with all the mirrors and added gold leaf detail.
I added a large bespoke radiator cover to go under the mirror which allowed me to place buffet lamps either side. I made the lamps by painting and gold leafing a pair of white lamp bases and adding a bespoke shade. I also added gold leaf to the vase so it was in keeping with the rest of the room.
I painted the radiator cover the same as the rest of the furniture to make it a feature.
After much searching I managed to find this gorgeous wallpaper, which was the perfect match for the Oval Room paint and also makes the alcove and fireplace the stunning focal point of the room. The fireplace itself is beautiful, I just painted the hearth black to show it off to it’s full potential and make it stand out against the pale carpet.
We made these gorgeous double lined, triple pleat, ceiling to floor curtains and cushions in the Deco Peacock fabric, which compliment the wall colour and make a nice contrast to the wallpaper.
