My brief for this project was for a bedroom a very little girl can enjoy now as well as when she grows, so the design couldn’t be anything too young but also not too grown up. I took my inspiration from a flamingo toy the little girl owns, making the main feature of the room a gorgeous flamingo mural on one wall.
My clients wanted to keep the built in wardrobes so I painted them in Shoreditch eggshell, changed the handles, and painted a mural on one of the wardrobes to reflect the mural on the opposite wall. The wardrobes had built in spotlights, which I changed into cute, bespoke pendant bedside lights.
My clients also wanted to keep the new bed frame they had bought (Big Girl Bed!), so again I painted it in Oxford Navy chalk paint and added foliage and fairylights.
I had a reading nook made, together with a canopy which can be removed if required as the little girl grows. The trim along the bottom edge of the canopy is also removable and can be swapped for an alternative. Both the reading nook and canopy have ambient lighting.
All the lighting, i.e. chandelier, standard lamp and pendant lights are bespoke, made by myself.
The blinds, cushions (apart from pink velvet), and upholstered seat pads are made by myself.
